Understanding the NDIS, NDIA and NDIS Commission
What is the NDIS?
NDIS stands for National Disability Insurance Scheme.
It’s a government program that helps people with a disability.
If you are part of the NDIS, you get funding (money) to pay for supports and services.
These supports help you with everyday life, learning new skills, getting a job, or joining your community.
What is the NDIA?
NDIA stands for National Disability Insurance Agency.
This is the government organisation that runs the NDIS.
The NDIA makes decisions about who can join the NDIS and how much funding people get.
NDIA staff help you create and manage your NDIS plan.
What is the NDIS Commission?
The NDIS Commission is short for the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
They make sure NDIS services are safe, respectful, and high quality.
They check that providers (like us) follow the rules.
If something goes wrong or you’re not happy with a service, you can complain to the NDIS Commission.
They also make sure workers are trained and treat people well.
